My Writer's Profile
Photo 8.jpgAmy is a writer who first learned how to write with the help of her mother, who is a teacher. Amy’s mother worked with her before school began for her and she was also placed in her mother’s first grade class. Amy believes people write to tell stories, to share their feelings, to communicate messages, and to inform readers on a subject of interest. According to Amy, “good writing skills begin with good oral communication skills” and it’s essential to know basic grammar rules and proper spelling. Amy enjoys writing letters to her boyfriend, grandparents, and other friends and family members. She also partakes in personal journaling. Amy’s ideas to write come from her own personal experiences, her friends’ experiences, as well as her views and passions in life. As a writer, Amy believes constructive criticism helps her the most in her writing. Amy doesn’t write as much as she would like to due to her busy schedule. Unfortunately she feels the only writing she does in for her classes and homework assignments, with only a few letters going out to her loved ones each month. Overall, Amy feels that her writing is a very personal experience for her and she doesn’t always want other people to read her writing until it is finished. Amy believes that “to become a good writer requires a lot of practice”.

My Favorite Writing Teacher
My favorite writing teacher was my 6th grade Language Arts teacher, Mr. Jones. He always told us “if you want to be a better writer, you have to write a lot.” Everyday when we walked into his class, we started by writing in our journals. We had the option to write about anything we wanted, but he would also give two or three suggestions for those who weren’t sure what they wanted to write about. He believed that there is always room for improvement, and was willing to help us do just that. Overall, my favorite thing about Mr. Jones was how much he cared!
